Temporary works design briefs

Temporary works briefs, done properly.

TworkX is a construction tool that helps you transfer what you know about the site to the temporary works designer, as a complete design brief that is ready to issue.

What the designer receives

  1. 01

The scope of the design and a description of the works, written from your data

  2. 02

Sections, plans and details drawn to scale

  3. 03

The ground, the loads, the plant and the constraints, each printed once

  4. 04

The proposed categories with their reasons

  5. 05

Who does what, and one schedule of what the designer must return

The brief sets up the design

A designer can only design what the brief tells them. When the ground, the staging, a surcharge or a nearby service is missing or unclear, it comes back as a request for information, a delay or a redesign. TworkX walks you through what the designer needs and shows you what is still missing before the brief goes out.

Features

What TworkX does

Guided questions

Each module asks what the designer needs to know, in plain language, with an explanation of why it matters.

A live gap check

Missing or inconsistent information is flagged as you go, ranked by how much it matters.

Auto solve

One click fills in what your data already answers and proposes the rest from good practice, for you to confirm.

Risk categories

Proposes the CFR, DCR and ER categories and the check category, each with its reasons, for you to decide, following the TWfAU Temporary Works Risk Guidelines and Procedural Control Good Practice Guideline, published by Engineers Australia.

Clear responsibilities

A responsibility matrix sets out who provides, designs, checks and approves each part.

Drawn as you type

The section is drawn beside the geometry as you enter it, and the brief carries sections, plans and junction details drawn to scale from your data.

Ready to issue

Export to Word or PDF under your own logo, in house colours or plain black and grey.

The works in 3D, drawn from the brief

Every model in TworkX now opens in one 3D engine: excavations with their ground, support, services and stages, formwork and falsework, scaffolds, and the whole project on its grid.

  • Presentation and Drafting styles, capped section cuts and a section box.
  • The stages played back, with what each stage digs or places picked out.
  • Measure, 3D notes and saved views, and a 3D illustrations sheet in the brief.
  • The brief or the whole project as IFC for the designer's BIM software, and any view as glTF.

It draws what the brief describes. Nothing is sized, checked or rated, and the design stays with the designer.

Modules

Three modules

See what each module covers
MODULE 01

Excavation and trench support

Sections, long sections and plans drawn to scale, with the method on each side, the ground, plant, surcharges and services.

MODULE 02

Formwork and falsework

Every pour drawn to scale, with every junction and construction joint, the full wet concrete head and the falsework founding.

MODULE 03

Scaffolding

The brief with the plan, elevations and section, plus a component take-off and materials list for the supplier to price.

What TworkX is not

TworkX does not design temporary works and does not check designs. It makes sure the designer starts with the full picture. The design, and the design check, stay with your temporary works designer and checker.

Who it is for

Site engineers, project engineers and temporary works coordinators who prepare briefs, and the contractors they work for. Designers benefit too: a complete brief means fewer questions back to site.
